About
What Chair & Cable is for
Chair & Cable is for the person upgrading a desk setup one weakness at a time — the reader who already has a working setup and now wants the right ultrawide, the arm that gives the desk its surface back, or the chair that stops the 3 p.m. backache. You know the vocabulary. You are past “what is VESA.” You want the pick that fits.
Most desk-gear coverage is written either by the manufacturers themselves — who only ever recommend their own gear — or by thin affiliate pages that claim to have tested twenty chairs they never sat in. We take a different line: we treat the buying decision as a problem you can reason about from published numbers, and we do that reasoning in the open. The ultrawide that needs 1,200 mm of desk width, the arm whose clamp will not close on a thick desk edge, the standing desk whose height floor is too tall for a 5-foot-6 user — those are the things that decide a purchase, and they are all knowable before you buy.
Who writes this
Chair & Cable is written by Stephen V., an enthusiast who is genuinely into desk setups and the gear that goes on them. No lab, no test bench, no wall of products we claim to have run for months. What we do instead: read the manuals, compile the published specifications, compute the ergonomics and desk-depth math, read what actual owners report, and cite the sources so you can check the work. That is something one curious person can do honestly across a whole category — and for a buyer comparing models, it is more useful than a borrowed credential.
We are deliberate about what we do notclaim. We have not lab-tested these products, and we will never write “in our testing” as though we did. Units we claim to have tested: zero — and we would rather say that plainly than fake a test bench. The how we pickpage lays out exactly how the picks are made, and what the scores are — and are not.
How this is funded
Chair & Cableis funded by the Amazon Associates program. When you buy through one of our links we earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. No brand pays us for placement, no manufacturer sends us free units, and a commission rate has never changed a ranking — which is why you will sometimes find the cheaper product ranked above the one that pays more. The full details are on the affiliate disclosure page, and our editorial policy covers how picks are chosen and refused.
Who publishes it
